Careers Outdoors and in Nature

Does the idea of sitting at a desk fill you with dread? Would you rather work outside, whether it's in nature, out in the elements or just somewhere you can be active? If so, you may enjoy a career working in the outdoors. These careers range in education, experience and pay, but chances are you won't ever have to sit in a cubicle!

  • Join an organization such as 4-H or Future Farmers of America.
  • Take related CTE courses at your local high school, such as Agriculture. 
  • Volunteer at a Nature Center or Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. 
  • Reach out to a business or organization in the career area you are interested in and ask for information on what the job is really like and what type of education or experience is recommended.
