Phlebotomy Graduation
All of the students in our recent Phlebotomy Technician I class passed their state NHA exam and are ready for employment as phlebotomists! Tehama County Department of Education Induction “Boot Camp” This fall, our professional development team (made up of Amanda Samons, Kelli Gordon and MaryRose Lovgren) led a group of new Career Technical Education teachers in Tehama County through two days of intensive workshop sessions to support them in their new positions. Topics included curriculum and instruction, classroom and lab management and assessing student learning. These new educators now have a network of teachers to connect with for continued guidance and support. Paradise Career Expo The Paradise Rotary Vocational Committee, of which our own Kelli Gordon is Co-Chair, hosted a Career Expo at Paradise High School on November 18th, 2022. Students from all schools within the district boundaries (public, private and charter) had the opportunity to explore a wide variety of potential career paths and post-secondary options that will prepare them for the next chapter of their educational journey and enhance the workforce development pipeline in the community. ACTE Conference Our professional development team made their way out to Las Vegas, Nevada to attend the national Association for Career & Technical Education conference, as well as to present! This conference brought together over 6,000 secondary and post-secondary career and technical educators, business leaders and industry professionals from around the world. Our team presented on high quality lesson planning and how to develop and deploy a curriculum development institute. STEM Career Day Sharon Nilsson, our new K-12 Strong Workforce Program Pathway Coordinator, participated in the Ignite Opportunity STEM Career Day in Redding on Friday November 18, 2022. More than 2,000 9th graders from across the North State attended the 9th annual event which encourages students to prepare for and pursue career opportunities in STEM fields. |
