Kelli Gordon - New Co-Principal at Paradise High School
We are thrilled to congratulate our former BCOE colleague, Kelli Gordon, on her new role as co-principal at Paradise High School! Her journey has been nothing short of inspiring, and her commitment to education, workforce development, and community building shines brightly.

Kelli's deep-rooted passion for rebuilding her hometown, Paradise, California, after the devastating Camp Fire in 2018, has led her to this remarkable achievement. Her journey began as a dedicated educator, where she played a pivotal role in founding, teaching, and leading middle and high school programs within her community.

Kelli then broadened her influence by working at the Butte County Office of Education, focusing on vital areas like Career Technical Education and Alternative Education. She is dedicated to bridging the education-to-workforce gap, aiming to align our current economy's needs with the aspirations of younger generations.

Kelli's journey exemplifies the power of dedication, resilience, and a deep-seated commitment to making a positive impact. We are immensely proud of her accomplishments and are excited to see her continue to shape the future of education at Paradise High School.

Direct Support Professionals
We are proud to share that our Direct Support Professional (DSP) Trainers and Butte Hub Administrators recently attended their annual Recertification Conference in Sacramento. This ensures that they stay up-to-date with the latest knowledge and practices in supporting individuals residing in licensed community care facilities.

Over the past year, our trainers have conducted an impressive 123 trainings, equipping and empowering over 1700 Direct Support Professionals. We take great pride in serving as one of the four service hubs throughout California, with our service area extending from the Oregon border to Sacramento. As the Far Northern Hub, Butte County CTE provides Year 1 & Year 2 Trainings for aspiring DSPs.

Direct Support Professional Training (DSPT) is made available at no cost by County Offices of Education through the Service Hubs. DSPs, who work directly with individuals with physical and/or intellectual disabilities, play a vital role in facilitating integration into their communities or the least restrictive environment.

Entrepreneurship Camp Student Makes a Splash
In preparation for the Biz Kidz Showcase in Chico, California, young entrepreneur Brynlie Homesley received invaluable guidance and inspiration from our Entrepreneurship Camp class instructor (and her grandmother) Anita Homesley.

As a 10-year-old resident of Chico, about to enter fifth grade at Marigold Elementary School, Brynlie decided to showcase her talent by creating custom jewelry, earrings, and artistically designed buttons under her business, "Brynlie's Buttons."

Brynlie's creations proved to be a hit at the showcase, earning her $254 in receipts for the day. Encouraged by her grandmother, Brynlie now plans to take her products to the Thursday Night Market downtown.

With Anita Homesley's guidance, young entrepreneurs like Brynlie demonstrated their potential to become successful and innovative leaders in the future business ecosystem of Chico!
