Exciting news from Butte County CTE! 18 talented students have graduated from our Certified Veterinary Assistant Program, and 12 have already landed fantastic jobs in the animal care field! This 24-week program equips students with essential skills and technical knowledge for entry-level roles as veterinary assistants, animal caretakers, or kennel attendants. Through engaging lectures, labs, and real-life clinical experience, graduates gain expertise in animal behavior, anatomy, sanitation, nutrition, disease management, and more. The Community Classroom component provides on-the-job training, ensuring a smooth transition into the workplace. Congratulations to all the graduates and their achievements in the animal care field! Institutional Advisory The recent COE Institutional Advisory Committee Meeting for the Butte County Regional Occupational Program (ROP) brought together representatives from educational institutions and stakeholders to evaluate and enhance occupational education programs. Held in Chico, CA, the meeting focused on program evaluations, discussions on student services, and updates on specific courses. Participants actively exchanged insights and recommendations, concluding with classroom tours to provide firsthand experience of the learning environment. This collaborative and evaluative meeting aims to ensure that the ROP's programs align with industry standards and meet the rigorous requirements set by the Council on Occupational Education (COE). Appointed members included Jennifer Foglesong, the Senior Director of BCOE CTE Department; Cristi Roach, Program Manager at Butte County DESS; Melisse Boyd from Butte-Glenn Community College; Lisa Scott, Program Manager at Alliance for Workforce Development, and Wendy Sweeney, Business Service Manager at Alliance for Workforce Development. Amanda Samons, the CTE Administrator from BCOE CTE Department, was also present. General members include MaryRose Lovgren and Kelli Gordon, Administrators of Butte County ROP.
